Das "Rotaract Club Aachen - Stipendium"

Bei der Weihnachtssozialaktion 2010 hat der Rotaract Club Aachen ein vierjähriges Stipendium für eine Schülerin in Kenia gespendet. Die Organisation Aiducation International übernimmt die Auswahl und die Organisation vor Ort. Aiducation hat es sich zum Ziel gesetzt, Stipendien für den vierjährigen Gymnasiumsbesuch herausragender Schüler in Kenia zu vermitteln und zu finanzieren. Zwei Gründungsmitglieder der Organisation haben uns im Sommer mit einem Vortrag besucht und uns hat das Konzept sehr überzeugt:

"Aiducation is a non-profit organization, dedicated to give people access to education. Founded in 2007 by parts of Kenya’s civil society, we award merit-based high school scholarships to bright and needy students in developing countries (current focus is on Kenya). Thereby, AiduMakers donate in a highly impact-efficient way: They help AiduFellows to realize their chances in life, while at the same time pushing the human capital in developing countries closer to their factual potential. This 1-1 principle ensures very high transparency of the investment as AiduMakers receives regular performance reports during the 4 years of the scholarship. AiduMaker participates in selecting the student and each scholarship is named after each AiduMaker (e.g. “Frank-Smith-Scholarship”). To increase the impact of each donation, 100% of the donations are converted into school fees. Operational and project costs are minimized and covered through donations specifically for those purposes, through voluntary work and through partnerships with AiduPartners.

Today, Aiducation has been awarded numerous prices and is run by volunteers (called Aiducators) with chapters in Germany, Kenya, Switzerland, and UK. Donations in all of these countries are tax-deductible"

Unsere Stipendiatin ist ein 16-jähriges Mädchen aus Machakos, Kenia.
Als Ärztin möchte sie Leben retten und die Lebensbedingungen, besonders für Waisen, verbessern. Sie möchte auch eine Schule für Waisen und sozial benachteiligte Kinder bauen.
Darüber hinaus möchte sie als promovierte Biologin Land kultivieren und ertragreicher bewirtschaften, sowie die Umwelt schützen
In ihrer Freizeit unterstützt Sie Hilfsbedürftige, liest gerne und engagiert sich in verschiedenen Arbeitsgruppen in der Schule.

Ihre Mutter ist Hausfrau; ihr Vater ist Lehrer und leidet an Epilpsie; sie hat noch drei Geschwister.
